Joseph LeRoy Anderson, of Santa Ana, California, passed away on July 29, 1975 at the Palm Harbor Hospital in Garden Grove, California after a short illness.
He was born August 31, 1901 in Cass County, Iowa, the son of Anna Larson and Andrew G. Anderson.
Joe was united in marriage to Edith Frances Noble on September 1, 1926 in Red Oak, Iowa. To this union was born one daughter, Gwendolyn Loghry of Prescott, Iowa and two sons, Arthur L. of Crestview, California and Gary J. of Orange, California.
Surviving are his wife, Edith, three children, 2 daughters-in-law, four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Other survivors are three sisters, Cora Sewell, Pahoa, Hawaii, Ruth Hartle, Long Beach, California, Julia Peterson, Villisca, and one brother, Orville Anderson, also of Villisca.
Joe lived the first 53 years of his life in rural Iowa and the last 20 he resided in Southern California.
He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran Church and later as a young man at the Christian Church of Morton Mills. He was currently attending Calvary Chapel of Coast Mesa, California.
Memorial services were held at the Westminister Memorial Park on Thursday, July 31, 1975 with Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel officiating.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 4, 1975 from the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca, Iowa, with the Rev. Eldon Haworth officiating.
Mrs. Quincy Dunn was organist and musical selection was “How Great Thou Art.”
Casket bearers were Robert Redford, Larry Baker, Jerry Loghry, Elmo Olson, John Baker, and Darrell Schrader. Interment was in Arlington Cemetery, Montgomery County, Iowa.
