John and Anna Bednar had one more child after they arrived in Texas, Mary Grace Bednar, who was born in 1888.
John and Anna had barely settled in America, when John died on September 30, 1889, at the age of 45. He was buried at St. Martin's Cemetery on October 1, 1889.
Anna (Novotny) Bednar died in 1910 and is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, Texas. She is buried next to her daughter's father-in-law and mother-in-laws, Vaclav and Rosalie (Soukup) Mashek. According to family members, she was buried there next to the Masheks because no one knew where John was buried at St. Martin's Cemetery. It was told at family reunions that she did not want to be buried at Tours if she could not be certain of John's gravesite.
