Mrs. J.A. Mashek, Pioneer, Dies

Mrs. Katherine Mashek, 68, wife of J.A. Mashek, died at her residence here at 8:55 Sunday morning, death being attributed to a heart attack. Mrs. Mashek had been in ill health for some time.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the Catholic Church, Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Mashek was born in Bohemia, coming to this county when she was 14 years of age. Her parents settled here in 1888, being among the first Czech residents of this community.

Mr. and Mrs. Mashek were married in this city over fifty years ago, having celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary here last November.

Deceased had resided here for the past 54 years, 38 years being spent at the present family residence.

Surviving are her widower; five daughters, Mrs. Frank Hutyra, Mrs. A.C. Stanislav, Mrs. Joe Urbis, Mrs. Joe Stanislav, all of West, and Mrs. Herman Grimm of Tours; five sons, Jim, Joe, Ed, John and Jerry, all of West; two sisters, Mrs. E.W. Kolar and Mrs. Sylvista Sulak; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
