John Crossgrove, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of this community died at his home northeast of Brashear Thursday night.
Mr. Crossgrove was a very sturdy man and was seldom ill.
He was an indefatigable worker and just a week before his death spoke of what a good day's work he had done in the timber.
A day or two following this he became so ill he took to his bed and a doctor was called. It was found that he had passed through the fever stage of pneumonia and was very ill.
He and his wife moved to Adair county, Missouri in 1869 and lived continuously on their farm two miles northeast of Brashear until his death Thursday night, March 23, 1911.
He was 72 years, eight months and 19 days old. Was converted and joined the M.E. Church, South, about 17 years ago and lived a faithful Christian life, loved and respected by all who knew him.
The funeral was held from the M.E. Church, South, Sunday March 26th, by Rev. Howerton, after which interment was made in the Paultown cemetery northeast of Brashear.
John Crossgrove was born in Holmes County, Ohio, July 4, 1838. Was married to Frederica Deets September 12, 1867, who survives him. To this union four children were born, one, Anna C., dying at the age of ten years. The remaining are J.F. and W.L. of Brashear and Mrs. Lizzie Harms of Almira, Washington.
