James T. Airheart, a resident of this county and city since February 1876, passsed away at his home at the corner of Lakin Avenue and Heizer street Sunday afternoon at 4 p. m., after an illness which kept him to his room for the last ten days, although he has been ailing for several years, being a sufferer from kidney trouble. Mr. Airheart was 66 sears and 6 month of age. He was born in Bradley county Tennessee, and grew to manhood in that state. When the civil war broke out he enlisted as a private in Co. L, 1st. Tennessee cavalry, and served throughout the war.
While in the army he saw some very hard and active service. At the close of the war he was married to Mrs. Louisa Ann Ruble, who with her two sons, John and Andy Ruble, and his three sons, S. L. and J.L. of this city, and W. P. living in Canton, O., and two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Spall, and Miss Tennessee Airheart of this city, mourn his loss. One son died in infaney, and one son, Mike, died a few sear ago. Deceased was always of anactive diposition, and during his lifetime held many of the minor offices in the city and county, and for several years had charge of the poor farm. He was formerly a member of the G. A. R.. and that organization had charge of the funeral, which was conducted from the late home Monday at 330, Rev. Selle of the Methodist church delivering the fuberal sermon. Mr. Airheart was always a hard working man, and left many friends who unite with us in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
