OAKLAND -- Judith Ann Thibeau, 61, went home to her maker on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at her Oakland home.

She was born in Waterville on July 10, 1948, the daughter of Freeman and Audry (Vigue) Elkins. Judith attended local schools, graduating from Williams High School in Oakland in 1967. She married the love of her life, Julius, on Sept. 25, 1976, at St. Theresa's Church.

After a career that started in nursing, and progressed to cooking, Judy ended her career as a professional child-care provider.

During her life Judy volunteered in her children's schools and at St. Theresa's. She was a longtime member of St. Theresa's Ladies Guild of which she was president for many years. Judy also belonged to the Rosary Sodality of Corpus Christi Parish. She also belonged to the Maine Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and was a board member at one time.

Judy was predeceased by her mother, Audry; her younger brother, Carroll; three grandsons, Marcus, Brydon, and Joshua; in-laws, James and Margaret Thibeau; brother-in-law Ken and sister-in-law Debbie.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 33 years, Julius; beloved children Shawn, Peggy and her husband, Shane, Lorn and Lucy, and Buffi; her cherished grandchildren and five loved and precious great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her beloved father Freeman Elkins and wife Bev of Clinton and her siblings Roland Elkins, Beatrice Varney and husband Skip and Myra Cook; her sister-in-law Grace Elkins and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Judy's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, at St. Theresa's Church, Church Street Oakland. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Oakland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of America, 540 Gallivan Boulevard No. 200, Boston, MA 02124-5400; or to cancer research.
