JOSEPH EUGENE MCANINCH

Joseph Eugene McAninch has passed from this life into the loving arms of his Creator. He died as he lived with great courage, dignity, and humor, telling his "knock knock" jokes until the end.

Dad was a loving, devoted son to his parents, Lilian and Sherman. During the last years of his father's life, although very young, helped to care for him as he himself suffered from Parkinson's. He and his brothers Charles and Lester took care of their mother until she passed on.

Dad was a 3 war veteran. End of World War II, Korea, and 2 years in Vietnam serving his country in Pans, Morocco, Spain, and other exotic lands. He retired from the military after 22 years of service and it was in his heart to return to the town he grew up in and loved.

He worked for the post office here for some 20 years. In 1957 he met his beloved wife Dolores and adopted her two small children David and Lynn. Although dad deeply loved his adopted children, he and Dolores had their own child, Timothy Michael whom he adored, was so very proud of, and referred to as his "baby boy."

Dad would want the community to know how much he loved this town and its people. We as a family would like to thank you for laughing at his many jokes even though you may have heard them more than once!

Special thanks to Dad's longtime faithful friends, Max Dunbar, Ina, and their family, Daryl Howard now passed on and known as "Bugs" and his widow Valerie, Bonnie and Maurice Silver and family, Bud Atwood, Joe Leeper, his wife and family, Dad's dear military friend, Marcel Vinduska, his wife Jean and family, past and present Lamoni postal employees, the Lamoni First Responders, the Lamoni Police Department, dear Gwen and Kris and the nurses from the Mt. Ayr hospice who attended him so lovingly, the Lamoni Nursing and Rehab for their efforts to restore and comfort dad the last 6 weeks of his life, Sharon and Rob Espencheid for their moral support and friendship, Joan Green and friends for supporting our mother during dad's illness, Ruth Smith for keeping dad moving, and her love for dad, Dave Young who dad loved, Larry and Linda Phillips and staff at Varsity Drug, the Badders, Jessica and family. Please forgive us if we have failed to remember all the many of you who have been there and loved our father; you know who you are and we love you!

He leaves behind his brother Charles and wife Velma and family, Thelma and Wayne Shakespeare, and Charles and Vernon, his son Timothy, wife Jennifer and grandsons Joshua and Jeremiah, son David, grandchildren Nicole and Casey and their mother Pauline, his daughter Lynn and her dear friend "O" who dad called "his other daughter," Crystal, Ira, Joshua, Matthew, Benji and Ella who came to visit dad with love and hugs. Dad loved you very much.

Since passed on, 5 half brothers and sisters who died at birth, two adopted sisters Jennie and Myrtle.

Until we meet again at Jesus' feet, Dad, we will desperately miss you.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 16th at the Community Center from 5-8. Please come as you are and see some great old and new photos of Dad, sign a guest book, and celebrate his life with us! Light refreshments served.
