She was born February 4, 1846, in Truro Township, Knox County, and spent the greater part of her life within a few miles of the place of her birth. She was of a quiet and retiring disposition, but thoughtful of the comfort and welfare of others, ever willing to sacrifice her comfort to bless others and help them over life's trying scenes.
On February 8, 1868, she was united in marriage to James Wilkins to which union eight children were born, three of whom with the father preceded her to the grave. Those surviving are Mrs. Jonas Elburg, Victoria, Ill.; Mrs. Andrew Hochstrasser, Wyoming, Ill.; and James, George and Harry Wilkins, of LaFayette, Ill.; also twelve grandchildren. Two brothers, - Jason, of Lewistown, Mo., and James of Victoria, Ill.; and two sisters – Mrs. Hattie Wolfe, of Chicago and Mrs. Edith Roberts of Missouri; besides many other relatives and friends are left to mourn her loss.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Saturday, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Wyoming Cemetery.
