Louisa married Dr. Winthrop Dyer, 29 May 1877, in Hamilton county, Iowa. Their first two children were born in Hardin county, Iowa and then they moved to California.
They lived in Tulare County for a couple of years. Later moving further south, for his health, living in the Mission Valley area. Finally settling in San Pasqual Valley in San Diego county. This was to become Louisa' home for the next fifty years.
After her husbands death she drew a widows Civil War pension. She continued to live in the valley and all her children grew to adulthood there.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Women Relief Corps, both of Escondido.
