Ovenea Owens "Granny" Smith, 91, departed this life on April 9, 2010. She was married to the late J.C. Smith for 48 years. She was the daughter of the late John and Beulah Owens and also preceded in death by 6 siblings and a son-in-law, Dana Crawford. She worked at K-mart in the fabric department and was a homemaker who loved her family.
She is survived by her children, Virgil L. Smith (Marilyn), Jerry Smith (Virginia), Ronald J. Smith, Linda Sue Crawford, and Martha McCord (John); a brother, Delmer Owens (Gwen); 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces and special friends.
Funeral, Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., Milward-Southland with burial following at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Casket-bearers will Jeffery Smith, Mickey Crawford, Virgil Smith, Jr., Richard Smith, William Arvin, and Stephen Arvin. Visitation, Wednesday 12:00-1:30, Milward-Southland.
