Albert R. Owens, 87, passed from this world peacefully Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in Wichita Falls.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, in Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Rev. Terri Whitgrove, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Al was born in Paducah, Texas, Feb. 15, 1920, and had lived in Wichita Falls most of his life. Before his retirement, Al worked for Otis Elevator and later for Sheppard Air Force Base Hospital. He served his country proudly in World War II. During his 44 months with the Army's 160th Infantry, he fought in three campaigns, Bismarck Archipelago, the Southern Philippines, and Luzon. Al received a Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, six Overseas Bars one Service Stripe.
Al enjoyed his family and friends dearly. He loved life itself and lived it to the fullest.
Al was preceded in death by four brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by two daughters, Nicki Weaver of Wichita Falls, and Leslie Jay Smirl and husband Wayne of Lake Arrowhead, Texas; two sons, Randy Owens, and Tony Owens and wife Lana, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Delmer Owens of Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Ovena Smith of Paris, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
