Delmer Ray Owens, 83, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Crestview Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Metz officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at Lunn's. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
A son of the late Beulah (Moore) and J.C. Owens, Delmer was born on July 24, 1934, in Iowa Park, Texas. He proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. Delmer worked as an x-ray technician for Gilbert X-Ray for many years. He and Gwen were married on November 24, 1973, in Wichita Falls. He was a kind and generous man known as "PaPa" by his grandchildren and their friends. Delmer loved fishing and all things "Aggies", especially football. He was a loyal supporter of the Wichita Falls Boys Club. For many years, Delmer enjoyed drinking coffee every morning with his buddies.
Along with his parents and siblings, Delmer was also preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Hickman and grandson, Shane Hayes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen of Wichita Falls; children, Rev. Gary Metz and wife, Terrie of Crowley; and Debbie Breeding of Wichita Falls; 3 grandchildren, James, Gary Robert and Michelle; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends and neighbors, Roger and Suzette McKee of Wichita Falls.
