Luther R. Leftwich, 68, who has lived in Montgomery, AL 17 years, died Wednesday at his home there after an illness of several months. He was a native of Bedford County, Virginia, son of Lynch and Julia A. Leftwich. He had been employed by Western Union Telegraph Company 26 years and was a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Blankinship Leftwich; a son Landon G. Leftwich of Philadelphia, two daughters, Mrs. Thomas O. Neville of Montgomery; and Mrs. Philip J. Mathis of Atlanta; three sisters, Mrs. L.M. Marshall and Mrs. E.F. Alcock of Herndon and Mrs. H.M. Tanner of Lynchburg; four brothers, Willie Leftwich of Herndon, Joseph Leftwich of Forest, Daniel Leftwich of Brownsville, TX, and Lynch Leftwich of Richmond, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at White Chapel Friday afternoon at 8:30 with Dr. D.M. Rivers officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.
