Samuel I. Burdett, Pioneer Citizen, Dies
Samuel Isaac Burdett, 84 years old, pioneer citizen of Atlanta, died Thursday at his home on the Roswell road. Mr. Burdett was a highly respected and widely-known citizen, being the father of B. F. Burdett, president of the Burdett Realty company.
He was prominent in Masonic circles, being a member of Sardis lodge, No. 107 F & A M. Funeral services, which will be conducted this afternoon at Providence Baptist church, will be in charge of that lodge, and interment will be in the churchyard.
In addition to his son, B F Burdett, he is survived by five other sons, W M, T S, A A, H E and Ollis Burdett; three daughters, Mrs. C. Q. Trimble, Mrs. Frank Holbrook and Miss Lillie Burdett; two sisters, Mrs. Seaborn Jones and Mrs. Debbie Langford, and three brothers, J F, Humphery and W Y Burdett. Awtry & Lowndes are in charge of arrangements.
Burdett--The friends and relatives of Mr. Samuel I Burdett, Miss Lillie J Burdett, of Roswell road; B F and W M Burdett, Atlanta, T S Burdett, Omega, Ga; A A Burdett, Moultrie; H E Burdett, Franklin; Ollie Burdett, Newnan; Mrs. C Q Trimble, College Park; Mrs. Frank Holbrook Dunwoody, J F Umphrey and W. L. Burdett, Mrs. Seaborn Jones, Piedmont road, and Mrs. Debbie Langford of Norcross, Ga. are invited to attend the funeral of Mr. Samuel I. Burdett this (Friday) morning at 11 o'clock from the Providence Baptist church, Rev. W F Burdett and Rev. W B Wilson officiating. Interment in the churchyard. Sardis lodge, F & A M, No. 107, will have charge of services at the grave. The six sons will serve as pallbearers. Awtry & Lowndes company, funeral directors.
