Past Jones Co. Supervisor Dies Aug.30

WYOMING -- Graveside services, with military rites, were held for Robert G. Alden, 82, a former Jones County supervisor, at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 1 in Wyoming cemetery. Cremation had taken place at Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Alden died Aug. 29 at Veterans hospital, Iowa City. He was born Nov. 25, 1894 on a farm in Hale township, son of Alton G. and Elizabeth Saxon Alden.
He was educated in local schools and graduated from Grinnell college in 1917. He served in the Army during World War I.
In was married to Alice Fuhrmeister in Cedar Rapids Jan. 5, 1921. The couple farmed southwest of Wyoming until retiring to their present home in Wyoming.
Mr. Alden was supervisor from 1956 to 1964. He was a member of American Legion and was a past commander and vice district commander; member of the Presbyterian church; past secretary of Wyoming Horse Show Assn.; past master of Keystone lodge, and member of Lions Club. He has been active in Boy Scout work and had received the Silver Beaver award.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Riches, Bellevue, and Mary Jane Kyarsgaard, Wyoming, and three grandchildren.
Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
