Son of William Henry and Catherine (Grindstaff) Perkins. According to family tradition, William Henry Perkins died from being dragged by a runaway ox team sometime in the 1840s prior to the birth of the last Perkins child, and the marriage of his widow. Listed in 1850 Census of Boone County MO with William Acton
and wife Catherine, burials of both unknown.
Married 1. Lydia Emmaline Hamilton c1852, who died in 1872. Served the Union in the Civil War.
Parents of daughters Catherine, Josephene, Carolyn, Mary E. and Susan, sons Reuben S. Perkins and Henry R. Perkins. Carolyn and Mary Ella died in childhood.
