James was the son of James Stephen "Steve" Partin & Sindarilla "Rilla" Mann Partin. He fought in World War I with the "Florida Avengers" as indicated by his government marker. Shortly after his death his relatives including his sister Lucy & his mother planted a gardenia bush at his grave. It still was blooming in 2000. Reportedly James drowned in a local lake.
