BOOMGAARN RITES HELD ON SATURDAY
Herman Boomgaarn, 88 a retired farmer, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 2, 1974, at the Pawnee Manor Nursing Home at Pawnee City.
Memorial services were held Saturday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wherry Chapel in Humboldt, with the Rev. Ward Merritt officiating. Mrs. Jesse Nemechek,Jr. was the organist and Rev. and Mrs. Merritt were the vocalists.
The pallbearers were Norman Barker, John Burgett, Lambert DeJonge, Herb Meyer, John Reuter and Eldon Workman.
Interment was in the Humboldt Cemetery with Wherry Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boomgaarn was born January 6, 1886 in Pawnee County, a son of the late John and Jenny Schilling Boomgaarn. He had always lived in this community.
November 21, 1911, he was united in marriage to Bessie Brim at Springfield, Missouri. The couple made their home on a farm eight miles northwest of Humboldt.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Samuel (Viola) Bickel of York New Salem, Pennsylvania, and Miss Marie Boomgaarn of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Raymond Boomgaarn of Humboldt, and Virgil Boomgaarn of Las Cruces, New Mexico; a sister, Mrs. Adeline Wyer of Worth, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
