MEETS WITH A TRAGIC DEATH

Harry Boomgaarn, 18 years of age, son of John Boomgaarn residing in Table Rock township Pawnee county, net with a tragic death late Thursday afternoon of last week. The unfortunate youth and his father were engaged in loading sand from a bank on the Gridley farm north of town, little suspecting that there was any danger of a cave-in but all at once an avalanche of shifting sand came crashing down completely enveloping the boy and burying the father above the knees. As soon as he could extricate himself the elderly man called for help but ere the boy could be released from his perilous position life was extinct and all efforts of resuscitation were unavailing. Deceased was born in Pawnee county and resided there all his life. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept 7, and the remains were interred in Humboldt cemetery.

In defference to the oft expressed wish of the boy, the auto hearse was not used, as he had declared that when his time should come that he would be laid away he wished to be bourne to his last resting place in a horse-drawn conveyance. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved father and sisters.
