PANHANDLE (Spc) - Walter Lill, 88, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Channing at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Budd (Margaret) Smith.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Christian Church with Ivan Potts, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Lill was the oldest native resident in Panhandle. He was born Oct. 1, 1890 in Panhandle and married the former Amelia Dittberner Sept. 17, 1913 in Panhandle. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died Feb. 12, 1978, and by two daughters, Hazel Fern Lill and Helen Lill Gilkerson.

He was a retired farmer and landowner and a member of the First Christian Church. He had been a director of the the First National Bank, on the board of directors for ASCS and was awarded the master farmer citation of District I in 1938 by the Progressive Farmer magazine.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Smith of Channing; three sisters, Mrs. Flossie Morris and Mrs. Maggie Wisdom, both of Claude, and Mrs. Nell Lemons of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Marilyn Grisham of Panhandle and Michael Gilkerson of Portland; and two great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to any favorite charity.
