A funeral service for Emery Ray Alford, 1617 Market St., was held Monday afternoon, March 25, in McGaffey Andreason Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Owen Douglass officated and interment was in the Eugene Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Alford died March 22 at the age of 78. He was born at Lancaster on August 29, 1895 and had lived in Oregon his entire life. For the past four years, he had resided at his present address. Mr. Alford was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad Maintenance of Way Dept. for 42 years as a foreman. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way in Eugene. Surviving are his wife, the former Grace I Vaughn whom he married in Eugene on August 18, 1915; a daughter, Joanne Lou Alford of Springfield; a son, Ronald G. Alford of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Mrs. Bobbie Britt of Eugene, Mrs. Jeffrey Anderson of Springfield, Jeffrey and John Alford of Pleasant Hill two great-grandchildren; thee brothers, Clell of Portland, Ivan and Everett of Eugene; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Tribble of Alameda, Ca, and Mrs. Bessie Matson of Eugene.
