Cassandra Wright was born 25 October 1837, the fourth daughter of Clayton Wright and Anna Snider of Rowan County, NC. According to censuses found, Cassandra and most of her siblings were born in Davidson County, North Carolina. Several, however, were born in Cocke County, Tennessee. Cassandra's siblings were:
Nancy Wright 1833 – 1906
Elizabeth Wright 1834 – 1912
Mary Ann Wright 1836 – 1886
Margaret Wright 1840 – 1843
Burgess Franklin WRIGHT 1841 – 1924
Martha Wright 1843 – 1904
Delilah Jane Wright 1845 – 1922
Andrew J. Wright 1849 –
Anna Wright 1851 – 1852

Abt 1857, Cassandra married Edwin [or Edward David] Turner. Cassandra's mother, Anna Snider Wright, died shortly after the birth of baby Anna. The story goes that Clayton was heading out to Illinois with the children after the death of his wife and baby. Cassandra did not want to go, but wanted to remain in Cocke County, and marry Edwin. Cassandra went with her father and siblings; however, before they got far, she did return and shortly afterward married Edwin. To that union was born 14 children; however by 1900, 10 had survived. According to the 1900 census, Cassandra indicated she had been married to Edward 44 years [presumably at the time of his death].
