Rockwell,Theodore "Ted" Edgar Rockwell--Age 72, of Myrtle Creek, passed away on Thursday,March 31,1994 in a Portland, Oregon hospital. He was born on May 19, 1921 in Newport, Washington. Ted served his country as a Marine during WWll. On August 15,1945 in Couer D'Alene, Idaho he married Iva Heath. Ted was a heavy equipment operator, he worked road construction in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. He worked for the Douglas County Road Dept. for several years, helping to build Buckhorn Road and South Deer Creek Road. Ted did the construction excavation for the Fir Grove Elementary School. He also worked for several logging companies, and helped to excavate the developement of a trailer park. He loved the outdoors, his family and his country. Survivors include: his wife of 48 years,Iva of Myrtle Creek, four daughters, Claudia Jones of Roseburg, Kay Anderson of Glide, Diana Savage of Portland, Oregon and Ivy Turner ofWinston,one son, Ted Rockwell of Sutherlin, three brothers, Wendell Rockwell of Grants Pass,Oregon, Lawrence "Skid" Rockwell of Olympia, Washington and Robert Rockwell of Spokane, washington, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Theodore, who died on April1,1951. Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4, 1994 at 10:00a.m. at the Glide Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Private cremation rites have been held. Interment will be held in Newport, Washington at a later date. At the families request contributions may be made in Ted's memory to the Diabetes Ass., PO Box 384,Roseburg, Or 97479. Long & Shukle Memorial Chapelis in charge of arrangements.
