Mamie Matthews, age 78, on Thursday, November 13, 1997 at Altercare Nursing Home. Born in Gallia County and graduated from Cheshire High School. Moved to Columbus in 1946 with her family.
Ordained minister and founder of the Mt. Calvary Holiness Church of Columbus. Member of the Kathleen Baptist Church of Lakeland, Fla. since 1973.
Survived by sons, Carl (Sandra), Darrell (Juanita) and Randy Matthews; daughter, Sandra Coleman; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband of 24 years Stanley Matthews, parents Roy and Osa Ola (Boggs) Thivener, brothers Kermit and Chester Thivener and sister Marjorie Imes.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd. Funeral service on Monday, November 17, 1997 at 2:30 p.m., Cheshire United Methodist Church with visitation 2 hours prior. Rev. Dave Ridenour officiating. Burial at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Cheshire.
