He had taught in public schools for over 43 years. He was a former selectman of Brooks, a member and past master of Marsh River Lodge of Masons of Brooks, a member and past master of Harvest Home Grange and Pomona Grange, and a member of the Brooks Booster Club. He was also a member of the Brooks Congregational Church.
He is survived by four sons and wives, Herbert & Marion Ryan Jr. of Winterport, Willard & Lurleen Ryan of Stratton, Roland & Dolly Ryan of Brooks, Dennis & Lorraine Ryan of Brooks; two daughters and husbands, Eleanor & Graydon Wellman of Winterport and Rita & Robert Low of Fairfield; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brooks Congregational Church with Revs. Charles & Janet Heslam officiating. Burial will be in Kenney Cemetery in Brooks. (Republican Journal)
