2005 obituary. FARMINGTON – Willard S. Ryan, 72, of Stratton, died Tuesday, Oct. 4 [2005], at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where he had been a patient for the past seven days. He was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Brooks, a son the Herbert E. and Hazel M. (Caldwell) Ryan Sr. He was educated in the schools of Brooks, and married Lurleen C. Nile on March 21, 1953, in Stratton. He was a lumberman for most of his life and a registered Maine guide for many years. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church of Stratton. He loved to play baseball, hunt and fish, and work with his bulldozer. He enjoyed being with his family and was a devoted Christian. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lurleen C., of Stratton; six sons, Mark Ryan of Turner, Marshall Ryan of Stratton, Mitchell Ryan of Phillips, Michael Ryan of Stratton, Martin Ryan of Phillips and Matthew Ryan of Stratton; three daughters, Mollie Reed of Stratton, Mary Brochu of Kingfield and Millie Howard of Stratton; 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roland Ryan of Brooks and Dennis Ryan of Thorndike; two sisters, Rita Low of Augusta and Eleanor Wellman of Winterport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
