I. V. Dickey died February 10, 1979 in Del Rio, Texas. He was born in Alto, Texas, September 28, 1913 to William Francis and Eugenia Pearl Murchison Dickey. I. V. Dickey married Sylvia E. Ratcliff January 21, 1945 in Quemado, Texas. Four children were born to I. V. & Sylvia Ratcliff Dickey: Robert William, Peggy Elizabeth, Roger Paul & Sammy Ray.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps for four years in World War II. SGT Issac V. Dickey, 1643D Ordnance Company, Welder Combination (Alergia- French Moroccan, Tunisia, Rome-Arno; European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign medal w/3 Bronze stars, Bronze Arrowhead, Good conduct medal).
I. V. had resided in Quemado since 1947. He farmed part time and taught at the Veterans School at the Radar Base from 1947 to 1956.
He also worked as a jet mechanic at Laughlin Air Force Base and for the Maverick County Water District until he became ill.
Dickey was a deacon in the First Baptist Church in Quemado and served as Sunday School Superintendent for 18 years.
