FORMER FOOTBALL STAR, LEONARD DICKEY, DIES
Funeral services for a former professional football player and honorable mention All-America at Texas A&M will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Pasadena with Dr. B. J. Martin and Rev. Homer W. Thompson officiating.
Leonard M. Dickey, 47, 3201 Tanglebriar, died Monday at Pasadena Bayshore Hospital. He was a member of the South Main Baptist Church and the Aggie Club and had worked for Sears the past 18 years.
Dickey played professional football for the old New York Yankees of the United Football League in 1947. He played with the Army All-Stars in 1942 while in the service. While at Texas A&M, he was accorded the All-America honors in 1945. He played on the College All-Star team in 1947 in the Cotton Bowl and in the East-West game in 1949.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorris Dickey of Pasadena; four daughters, Miss Lynda Dickey, Jan Dickey, Dee Ann Dickey and Jo Carole Dickey, all of Pasadena; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Dickey of Cleveland; one sister, Mrs. Tom Stanley of Highlands; four brothers, Earl Dickey of Tyler, Vernon Dickey of Quemado, Finan Dickey of Baytown and Robert Dickey of Iowa Park.
