Mrs. Lorna Carter Tift, 44, died at her home in Delena Fri­day, January 21. She underwent surgery and had been home for about two weeks before she passed away.

She was born at Sand Lake, Oregon, February 11, 1910, and had lived in the Delena commun­ity since 1928. She was married in 1926 at Vancouver, Wash.

She is survived by the widow­er, Frank Tift, Sr., five sons, Frank, Jr., Sam, Charley, Lorn, and John. Charley is in the U.S. Marines and stationed in North Carolina. The rest of the sons are home or living in Delena. There is also one daughter, Mrs. Edna Brewer of Kalama, Wash., her mother, Mrs. Dora Carter of Molalla, Oregon, two sisters, Mrs. Alice Frank of Molalla and Mrs. Deane Bowen of Yamhill, Oregon, and four brothers Mike Carter of Sandy, Elmer Carter of Vernonia, Russell Carter in the air force in Panama City, Flor­ida, and Jack Carter at Madras. She leaves 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday at 2 p. m. in the Ander­son Funeral chapel in Clatskanie. Cremation followed in Portland.
