Funeral services for Mrs. Laverne Downs of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in the Duck Hill Cemetery in Duck Hill. Rev. Randy Dees will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 27, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Downs died of heart failure at Winona Manor in Winona on Sunday, April 25, 2010. She was 72 years old.
Mrs. Downs was the daughter of the late Jewel Henry and Travie Allene Alldread Rose. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James H. Rose and Roy Rose.
Survivors include her husband, James K. "Toady" Downs of Winona; son, Johnny Downs of Winona; two sisters, Allene Hentz of Grenada and Betty Lou Ware of Winona; two brothers, Gene Rose of Clarmont, Florida, and Homer Rose of Hephzibah, Georgia; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Downs, Glen Downs, Charles Lowery, Ricky Price, Jake Rose, and Josh Scarberry.
