James was one of thirteen children and a twin to Anna Catherine. His maternal grandparents were German immigrants and pioneers John J. Yelkin II and Anna C. Dirks. His paternal great grandfather was German immigrant and pioneer Christian Bohna. James served our country proudly and was a veteran of WWII.

BRUNK, JAMES CLIFFORD-Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. In the chapel of Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Mortuary for James Clifford Brunk, Star Route, Box 39, Granite Station, who died Feb. 10 In a Bakersfield hospital. Kenneth Callaway, worthy president, and Howard Green, chaplain, officers of Bakers-field Aerie 93, Fraternal Order of Eagles will officiate and Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Mr. Brunk ' was a native of Bakersfield and a member of a Kern County pioneer family. His great-greatgrandfather, Christian Bonna, built the first bouse in Bakersfield. The Brunk family are well-known residents of the Woody-Glenn-ville area. Mr. Brunk was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War n and a member of Bakersfield Aerie 93, FOE. Survivors Include the widow, Doris Vaughn Brunk; daughter, Mrs. Barbara Molder of Bakersfield; sister, Mrs. Myrtle Gay of Bakersfield; 2 brothers, Calvin Brunk of Richmond. Charles Brunk of North Carolina; 2 grandchildren.. Pallbearers will be Gene Lobse, Ed Mozrlson, Tom Stalling, Ano Carlson, Vernon Hathaway, and Grant Grlsedale.
