Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock for George W. Baker, 79, who died on Monday night at his home northwest of Villisca of old age complications and pneumonia. Burial will be made in the Arlington Cemetery.
The Rev. E. Buehler will be in charge of the final rites. Pallbearers will be James Dunn, James Anderson, John Farlin, James Thomason, Elmer Thomason, Ray Dunn, and George Dunn and music will be furnished by Miss Sylvia Enarson and Mrs. Verna Means accompanied by Mrs. Frances Wheeler.
Mr. Baker was born in Pulaski County, Missouri, November 23, 1860, a son of Balaam and Mary Baker and he moved to Montgomery County, Iowa with his parents in 1866, settling east of Villisca, Iowa.
On March 4, 1888, he married Eva M. Dunn and to this union eight children were born, seven of whom are now living: Mrs. Avon Childs, Boscobel, Wisconsin, Mrs. Nina Lary, Point Roberts, Washington, Chester Baker, Anacortes, Washington, Archie Baker, Red Oak, Iowa, and Frank, Carl, and John, of Villisca, Iowa. Mr. Baker is survived also by a brother, Jack Baker of Cody, Nebraska. His wife preceded him in death.
Mr. Baker served for many years as a member of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. His body was taken to Eno & Sutphens Funeral Chapel to await funeral arrangements.
