Annie was the oldest of nine children born to Charles Anson Miller whose parents came from Longford County, Ireland, and Clara Lilian Gardner, whose father was from England.

Before marriage Annie taught school for several years as did three of her sisters. Her sister Delle was teaching in Napierville at the same time the Rev. Daniel Mick was supplying a Methodist church there too and that is perhaps where the couple met.

Both Annie and her next sister Delle graduated from Normal School (teachers' college) before 1900, unusual at the time. And each taught for several years before marrying ministers.

Annie and Daniel served several small churches including Missisquoi and Inverness and spent the last decade or so in Montreal. They had one son, John Charles Gerald, named after their two fathers but known as Gerald. He was very athletic and at age 14 swam over a mile across lac Lyster, near the Vermont border.
