Jack Gordon Brackner - 72, of Athens, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2010.

Mr. Brackner was born in Bessemer, Alabama and lived in many places in the United States throughout the early years of his life. In 1969, he settled in Etowah, TN and started The Brackner Company, which he operated throughout East Tennessee, and after 40 years in business, was nationally known as a leader in the coin-operated amusement machine industry. He was also a successful restaurant owner, operating "Scottie's" restaurants in various towns during his 41 years in East Tennessee. He was a strong supporter of The Muscular Dystrophy Association and founder of the "MDA Boat Rides". He was also a quiet supporter of those in need within the community, believing strongly in giving back. A husband, father, and friend to many...he will be greatly missed. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was a member of Englewood First Church of God.

Mr. Brackner was preceded in death by his parents, J. Elisha and Tina Brackner; his sisters, Liz McLaughlin, Lois Hayward, Ruth Daniels, and Bernice Scott, along with his brothers, Joe Brackner and Brack Brackner.

Survivors include his wife, Judye Russell Brackner of Athens; two sons and daughter-in-law, Eric J. and Tanya Brackner of Athens, and James Graham of Decatur; two daughters, Melissa Campbell and fiancé John Murphy of Harriman, and Denise and Rob Arrants of Bristol, VA; very special bonus children, Steve Russell of Knoxville, Dean Russell of Oak Ridge, Lynn Randolph of Oak Ridge, and Tim and Lee Ann Parker of Strawberry Plains; grandchildren, Hannah Parker, Kensey Parker, Zak Arrants, Samantha Martin, Evan Graham, Tierney Graham, Derek Arrants, Morgan Campbell and Kayla Brackner; brothers, Charles Brackner, Jimmy Brackner, Russell Brackner and J.E. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Englewood First Church of God with Brother Will Hughes, Pastor Kevin Cummins and the Rev. Tim Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church prior to the service.
