Zelma Jean "Jean" (Brackner) Smith Kernan, daughter of Joseph Elisha "Lish" Brackner Jr and Alice Jeanette "Nettie" (Butler) Brackner. Known by middle name of Jean. Elmer Joe "Joe" was her twin brother. Wife of (1) Leon Smith and (2) William J. "Bill" Kernan.
Jean Kernan, age 87 of McCalla, AL died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Mrs. Kernan was a native of Tuscaloosa County and a resident of Jefferson County most of her life where she was retired from the City of Birmingham after twenty years of service. She was a member of the Fairfield Elks Emblem Club, the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW and was a member of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Kernan.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 12 Noon at Valhalla Cemetery with the Rev. Randolph Kesler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service at the funeral home.
