Dora Helen Crocker Rhoads was born February 1, 1923 in Heflin, Louisiana and passed from this life on March 9, 2012 in Vivian, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Oil City United Pentecostal Church. There will be a time of visitation on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 6-9 pm at the Oil City United Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Rhoads was a long-time resident of Bonham Landing on Caddo Lake. She was an avid fisherman and loved to be on the lake catching a big bream or catfish. She also loved working in her garden. Mrs. Rhoads, known as "MawMaw" to all who knew her, loved to have guests and cook for them and always had time to play a game or spend time with guests and family alike. She loved going to church and being with her church family as well. She was a true Christian and loved the Word of God. She read the bible through in its entirety each year for over thirty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy G. Rhoads; son Milton A. Rhoads, Sr; daughter-in-law Pamela Lewis Rhoads; parents Thomas and Edna Crocker; and brothers Tom Crocker, Warren Alexander, George Crocker, and Frank Crocker.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Ella Rhoads of Vivian, Louisiana, and sons Eddy Rhoads and wife Joyce of Vivian, Louisiana, and Rev. David Rhoads of Lufkin, Texas. Her survivors also include three sisters, Johnnie Miles of Vivian, Texas, Betty Lowry of McLeod, Texas, and Mary Whatley and husband Ed of Vivian, Louisiana; brother Bill Crocker of Vivian, Louisiana; ten grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.
