Funeral services for George S. Lensing, Sr, 89, will be Thursday August 14, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rt. Rev. Jerome Kodell, O.S.B. will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Lake Providence City Cemetery, Lake Providence, LA. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM till 8:30 PM Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church in Lake Providence, LA. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday.

Mr. Lensing died August 11, 2003 at St. Catherine's Village, in Madison, MS.

He is survived by two sons, George S. Lensing, Jr, Chapel Hill, N.C.; and David C. Lensing, Memphis, TN.

His wife Opal Lensing died January 2003, his son Michael H. Lensing died in 1997 and his daughter Mary Lensing Poirier died in 2000.

In Addition to his sons, he is survived by his daughters-in-law, Edythe Lensing of Summit, MS; Connie Lewis Lensing of Memphis, TN; and son-in-law, Jules Poirier III of Destrehan, LA. His grandchildren are Ginny Lensing, Lucy Heim, George Michael Lensing, Dave Lensing, Doug Lensing, Ellen Lensing, Jules Poirier IV, David Poirier, Brian Poirier and Brad Poirier; great-grandchildren are Mary Poirier, Katie Poirier, and Kaylynn Poirier; two brothers, Casper Lensing and Tommy Lensing, two sisters, Helen Buss, and Dorothy Murphy.

Mr. Lensing was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Lensing, son Michael Lensing, daughter, Mary Lensing Poirier, Parents, Casper and Anna Lensing, brothers, Leo Lensing, FR. Michael Lensing, O.S.B, and James Lensing; sister, Mary Jane Neumeier.

Mr. Lensing was president of the Lake Providence Bank (Bank of Dixie) in Lake Providence, LA. He was a founding partner with his later brother, Leo Lensing, in Lensing & Lensing Insurance Co.; a founder and partner of Alluvial Lands Ins. a real estate firm; and a founder and partner in Agricredit, a crop production loaning agency all in Lake Providence. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church of Lake Providence and served on many boards and committees of the local church and diocese.
