Catherine Emily (Root) Terry was born Sept 10, 1803 in Great Barrington, Mass. She was the daughter of William Root and Anna Messenger. She married Henry Terry on Sept 9, 1829. They lived in Sangerfield, Oneida Co. NY. They had five children: Addison Robingue b. Jun 19, 1830, Catherine Jeanette b. Jun 23, 1832; Mary Electa b. Jul 19, 1835; George Washington. b. Aug. 6, 1838, and Charles Bacon. b. Sept 11, 1844.

Catherine's husband Henry died in 1849, leaving her a widow. The children were taken into relative's homes. and when they reached maturity, all three sons joined the Union Army; Addison Robingue, Charles Bacon Terry and my g grandfather George Washington, the only son who survived the Civil War.

After 1880, Catherine came to Michigan and made her home with him until her death on June 19, 1890 at his farm in Onondaga.

HENRY TERRY (twin with James), son of Zeno and Tabitha (Abbe) Terry, born in Suffield, Conn., January 15, 1786; died in Sangerfield, N. Y., February 15, 1849. Farmer.

Married (2) September 9, 1829, CATHARINE EMILY ROOT, born in Berkshire County, Mass., September 10, 1803, daughter of William Root. She married again and was living in 1881.

Children by second wife
1 - Addison Rouligne Terry, b. in Sangerfield, June 19, 1830. He was a farmer, went to Fort Scott, Kans., enlisted at the outbreak of the Civil War and was lost, fate unknown. His wife lived in New Berlin, N. Y., with their daughter, Nora.

2 - Catharine Jeanette Terry, b. in Byron, N. Y., June 23, 1832 ; lived in Edinboro, Pa. ; m. May 2, 1853, Orange Bean.

3 - Mary Electa Terry, b. in Allegany County, N. Y., July 19, 1835 ; m. Sept. 20, 1859, Orlando Walker. He was a cattle broker in Garrison, Kans.

4 - George Washinggton Terry, b. in Edinboro, Pa., Aug. 6, 18.38 ; farmer in Leslie, Mich. ; m. Oct. 10, 1859, Clarissa Leach and had four sons.

5 - Charles Bacon Terry, b. in Sangerfield, Sept. 11, 1844 ; he went to Kansas with his brother and enlisted in the cavalry service. At the close of the Civil War, he joined the regular army and in 1881 was Sergeant of Company D, 12th Artillery, stationed at Fort Apache, Ariz.
