BOND, JAMES (ED)
Graveside service for James (Ed) Bond, formerly of Staunton, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Staunton City Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Bond officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in Williamson Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to Alzheimer's Association.
Mr. Bond died at 1:10 p.m. Monday, January 11, 1999, in Hitz Memorial Home, Alhambra. He was 92 years old on May 22. He retired in 1968 as a machinist with Olin Corporation in East Alton. In the 1950s he served as police magistrate in Staunton.
He was born in Dorchester Township, Macoupin County, a son of the late Charles and Ada Poore Bond. He married Wilma Poore in 1939. She died in 1979. Surviving are sons, Charles "Art" Bond and wife Renee of Bethalto, Edward Bond of Benld; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, Jerome Bond, four sisters and three brothers.
