G.W. Aberly Succumbs In Hospital

George W. Aberly, 72, of 312 East A street, resident of Iron Mountain for the past 22 years and a retired Chicago and North Western Railroad employee, died Saturday night in Memorial hospital, following a lingering illness.

He was born Nov. 28, 1888, in Crystal Falls, and moved to Iron Mountain from that city. He was a machinist for the Chicago and North Western Railroad until retiring in 1953.

He leaves his wife, Jennie; four sons, Calvin, of Iron Mountain; Curtis, of Iron River; Kenneth, of Crystal Falls; and George Aberly Jr., of Pontiac; two daughters, Mrs. John (Cleo) Porter, of Kingsford; Mrs. Charles (Luella) Muhaw, of Detroit; two brothers, Herman, of Crystal Falls, and Casper Aberly, of Escanaba; and 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Lloyd, died earlier this month in Crystal Falls.

Friends may call at the Rochon Funeral Home beginning at 2 this afternoon.

Services will be held at 8:40 tomorrow morning at the funeral home and at 9 at SS Mary and Joseph's church, Monsignor A. C. Pelissier will intone the requiem mass. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.

Monsignor Pelissier will recite the rosary at 8 tonight at the funeral home, which will be attended by members of the Knights of Columbus.

Services for George Aberly, 71, of 312 East A street, were held at 8:40 yesterday morning at the Rochon Funeral Home adn at 9 at SS Mary and Joseph's church. Rev. Fr. Gilbert Neuhror intoned the requiem mass.

Pallbearers were Arthur Robichaud, Ferdinand Zambon, John Shemky, Edward Robichaud, Gust Eckola and Albert Makuk. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens.

Attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Casper Aberly, of Escanaba; Charles Muhaw and family, of Detroit; George Aberly, Jr., Mrs. Hazel Sawyer, of Pontiac; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Robichaud, Mrs. Beulah Strand, of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Aberly, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Aberly, Miss Edna Harvey, Mrs. Lottie Aberly, Mrs. Jack Shemky and Mrs. Gust Eckola, of Crystal Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Aberly, of Iron River; Mrs. Laura Porter and daughter, Priscilla, of Florence; Ray Livingston, of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Jack Gersky, of Crystal Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Fred DeMark, Sheboygan, Wis., and Effie Hartman, of Alpha.
