Thomas L. "Tom" Abbott, 70 of Nebraska City, died March 26, 2003 at his home. He was born June 11, 1932 to Adrian A. Abbott and Nora Irene (Jones) in Nebraska City.
He married MaryLou Walker on Aug. 20, 1952 in Auburn. He was a contract truck driver for Bekin Van Lines.
He is survived by his wife MaryLou Abbott of Nebraska City; children: Walter William Abbott and wife Wanda of Esko, Minnesota, LuAnn Abbott Bixler and husband Garvin Jr. of Livonia, New York, and Thomas Lee Abbott and wife Pamela of Spring Valley, Minnesota; sisters Wanda Barrett of Nebraska City and Vernice Eblen of Camden, Missouri; brother Darold Abbott of Elmwood; 11 grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Martin Abbott, Everett Eugene (Gene) Abbott, Guy Abbott, Carl Abbott and Larry Abbott and sister Lola Barrett.
Memorial services were Saturday, March 29, at Gude Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City.
The Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City was in charge of the arrangements.

ROCHESTER A memorial service for Thomas L. "Tom" Abbott will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gude Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Mr. Abbott, 70, of Nebraska City, formerly of the Rochester area, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at his home.
He was born June 11, 1932, in Nebraska City. On August 20, 1952, he married Marylou Walker in Auburn, Nebraska. They lived in Nebraska City until 1960 and then in the Rochester area until returning to Nebraska City in 1999. Mr. Abbott was a contract truck driver for Pekin Van Lines for more than 40 years and retired January 14, 2002.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Walter William (Wanda) of Esko, Minnesota and Thomas Lee (Pamela) of Spring Valley; a daughter, LuAnn Abbott (Garvin Jr.) Bixler of Livonia, New York; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Barrett of Nebraska City and Bernice Eblen of Camden, Missouri; and a brother Darold of Elmwood, Nebraska. Five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
