Son of Johannes Simonsen and Maria Jensen; stepson to Andrew Borgan Andersen. Husband of Louisa Mikesell Anderson.

Marion Peter Anderson, 77, died in Afton Friday morning, July 13 at the home of his son, Marion following a stroke.

Funeral services were held Monday July 16 at 1 p.m. in the Grover Ward Chapel under the direction of Counselor Winfield B. Burton.

Marion Peter Anderson was born June 4, 1879 at Sindal Hjorring, Denmark the son of Andrew Borgen Anderson and Marie Jensen Anderson. He came to Utah when he was two years old. He spent his boyhood days in Hyrum, Utah where he attended school. He helped his father in the logs for many years.

At the age of 20 on Dec 20, 1899,, he married Louise Mikesell in the Logan LDS Temple. She died three years ago on April 24, 1953. To this union eleven children were born, four of whom have preceded him in death. Two of these children were born in Hyrum before they came to Star Valley.

Their first home in Star Valley was in Afton and they later moved to Grover where they lived until the spring of 1905 when they moved to Willow Creek and he became a successful farmer. Through hard work and careful planning this couple changed the wilderness into a place where everyone was always welcome.

He had a good voice and for many years sang at all the parties and programs.

He became engaged in all kinds of work feeding cattle, logging, farming, driving a school wagon and freighting. All of this work he did to make a living for his large family. He had a very likable disposition and made many friends wherever he went.

In 1949 the Anderson's celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary. After the death of his wife he sold his ranch and moved to Afton.

Survivors include four sons and three daughter; Marion Anderson, Elmont Anderson, Eugene Anderson of Grover; Mrs Ina Walton, Cokeville; Mrs Lorraine Young and Mrs Venna Martin, Afton; Twenty-two grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He has three brothers and one sister living. They are David Anderson, Afton; Alma Anderson, Ogden; Borgan Anderson, Hyrum, Utah; and Mrs Lottie Kimball, Salt Lake City.
