Accident Takes Life Of Grover Youth
The people of our community were greatly shocked Sunday evening, when they learned of the accident that caused the sudden death of Russel Anderson son of Mr. and Mrs. M.P. Anderson.
Just how the accident happened is not known.
Russel was doing chores at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer West, while Mr. and Mrs. West were on a trip to California. He had been to the meadow for a load of hay and was putting it in the barn with nets. The nets caught and would not go through the opening of the barn. Russel climbed up to see what was the matter. The team that pulled up the loaded nets were a little restless and stepped around some.
The West boys who were driving the team waited for Russel to tell them when to pull up. After a reasonable time receiving no word from him, they called but received no answer. Billie ran around the rack and looking up saw Russel between the lower edge of the opening of the barn and the hay in the nets.
Dale drove the team up and raised the hay higher. Russel then fell face down on the hay in the barn.
The boys rushed to the house for their aunt, Mrs. Ruby Jensen. They worked hard trying to revive him. Failing to do so, Mrs Jensen rushed to the telephone and called her husband, Orlan Jensen, Bishop Gardner, and Dr.West. Orlan arrived first and began working when Bishop Gardner and Cariel Anderson, brother of the injured boy arrived. They took the boy to the house and worked frantically to revive him. when the Doctor came and examined him, he was dead.
The body was taken to the Afton Mortuary to be prepared for burial. Tuesday afternoon the remains were taken to his brothers home in Grover.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Grover ward at 1:00 o'clock under the direction of Bishop Delos Gardner.
The Choir sang, "Sweet Hour of Prayer."
Opening prayer, L.C. Jensen.
Sister Mary S. Hepworth sang, "O My Father".
Brother George Astle was the first speaker. He told how Russel went with him as he responded to the call to speak in different wards, that he might gain all the information possible that it might be of use to him in the mission field.
