Eugene ws born Dec 11, 1918 to Marion Peter Anderson and Louisa Mikisell, one of eleven children. His family lived in Grover Wyo. until eugene was five years old, then moved to Willow Creek to farm where his parents remained for the remainder of their lives. He attended grad school in Grover and high school in Afton.
Eugene served in the United States Navy during World War II and was in Tokyo Bay when the Japanese surrendered. Some of the surrender papers were signed on his ship.
On Nov 22, 1952 Eugene married Madaline Taggart Walker, a young widow with five children, whom he raised. To Eugene and Madaline one son was born Andrew Eugene on July 15, 1953. She died Jan 9, 1967, after 13 years of marriage. Eugene married Opal Mercer on April 15, 1969. They were together almost 16 years before his death.
He loved children, animals, gardening, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He was devoted to his family. Eugene was an oiler by profession and a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving his death are his wife Opal, son Andrew, stepsons Lavon, Scott and Errol, stepdaughters, Eunice Hansen and Lawanna Campbell, sister Lorraine Young, 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Eugene Anderson, who has spent the winter in California, died last week. Funeral services will be held 1p.m. in the Grover-Auburn LDS Church Thursday, April,4 and he will be buried int he Grover Cemetery.
