JAMES E. BUCHANAN, 67
James E. Buchanan, 67, 316 W. Fifth St., Greensburg, died today, Jan. 20, 1987, at 5:15 a.m. in the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. He had been in failing health three years.
Buchanan was born March 19, 1919, in Greensburg, the son of Charles E. and Bessie Bullard Buchanan. In 1979, he retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 32 years with them. In 1985, he came to Greensburg from Burney, where he had lived 20 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.s. Army in the Pacific Theater.
On April 9, 1950, he married Virginia Riggs in Indianapolis, and she survives; with four daughters: Mrs. Ronald (Debra) Adkins, R.R.6, Greensburg, Mrs. Ronnie (Mary) Tempest, Greensburg, Mrs. John (Marsha) Seal, R.R.10, Greensburg, and Mrs. James (Donna) Seal, Greensburg; two sons: Michael R. Buchanan, Greensburg, and Robert L. Buchanan, living at home; two brothers: Leonard G. Buchanan, Westport, and Lawrence E. Buchanan, Columbus; two sisters: Mrs. Al (Mary) Veerkamp, Wayne, Mich., and Mrs. Culver (Thelma) Martin, Columbus; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter who died in infancy; one sister who died in infancy and one granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, with the Rev, Robert Browning officiating.
Burial will be in the Milford Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
