Rites held at Silver Creek for Mrs. Allen
Funeral services were held Friday morning from Silver Creek Methodist Church for Mrs. Amanda Williams Allen, 97, of Silver Creek who died Wednesday night at the Jefferson Davis County Extended Care Facility where she had resided for the past several months. Rev. M. T. Truman officiated and was assisted by Rev. Frank Dement and Rev. James McLemore. Interment followed in the Silver Creek Cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home in charge.
Grandsons who served as pallbearers were John Albert Allen, Buster Allen, Bert Allen, James Benson, Joe Holifield, and James Holifield.
Mrs. Allen was the oldest surviving member of the Silver Creek Methodist Church and was one of the oldest citizens of Lawrence County.
Survivors include three sons, Albert Allen of Hattiesburg; Dale Allen and Gordon Allen both of Silver Creek; two daughters, Mrs. Laurie Mikell of Silver Creek and Mrs. William McInnis of Hattiesburg; 12 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
