Orthy Bumbalough, 81, of Crossville, passed away June 14, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted June 17 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Hollace Page officiated, with special music by John Riley.
Mrs. Bumbalough was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Byrdstown, TN, the daughter of Carlos and Ada Neal Whittenburg.
She was an accountant, and he was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters, Norma Joyce Kaffenbarger of Crossville and Janice Dolores Marler of Wake Forest, NC; brothers, Glen Whittenburg and Paul Whittenburg, both of Crossville, J.D. Whittenburg of Pleasant Hill, Floyd Whittenburg of Nashville, TN, and Bobby Whittenburg of Auburn, AL; sisters, Dorothy Neal and Audrey Mae Spriggs, both of Crossville, Christine Thompson, Shirley Stewart and Wanda Whittenburg, all of Pleasant Hill; sister-in-law, Claudine Whittenburg of Pleasant Hill; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Bumbalough; two brothers, Lloyd Whittenburg and Linny Whittenburg; and one sister, Jean Chastine.
Pallbearers were Johnnie Kaffenbarger, Rodney Kaffenbarger, Larry Spriggs, Roger Whittenburg, Michael Whittenburg, Blaine Farr, Jerry Thompson, Gary Whittenburg, David Spriggs, Morris Neal, Donnie Whittenburg and Jimmy Whittenburg.
