Elma was born to Christopher and Ruth Edmonds Aaland. She married John R. Massey, Jan. 7, 1942, in Denver. Elma was a member of Odessa Bible Church, an avid pro-life sponsor, a full-time homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved antique glassware and owned and operated Elma’s Antiques for many years.
Her loving husband of over 50 years, two grandchildren, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
She is survived by her five daughters and son-in-laws, Marie and Larry Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sharri and Jim Ketcham of Midland, Janyce and Jimmy Chesnut of Alamogordo, N.M., Carolyn and Phil VanAuken of Waco, Veja and Casey Ellison of Gardendale; and a son, Darrell Massey of Odessa; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Massey of Odessa; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Aaland and Curtis Aaland both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and sisters, Arlene Zapp of Carthage, S.D., and Ellen Shanks of Indianapolis.
