GIDEON WORKER 75, VICTIM OF PARALYTIC STROKE
William, E. Henderson, 75, known through his work for many years as secretary of the Gideon society, died here Thursday. The last five years were spent in San Diego as assistant to Dr. John Bunyan Smith at the First Baptist church and as the First Presbyterian church.
He spent many years of his life visiting the sick and unfortunate. Hundreds of local citizens acknowledge the cheer he brought to their sickrooms, and when it becam known that he himself was ill many went to his door. He was denied their company, however. A paralytic stroke made it impossible for him to receive them.

He became affiliated with the Gideon society, and was advanced to the post of national secretary, which he held for many years. It is estimated he distributed more that 60,000 Bibles throughout the country.
He suffered a stroke of paralysis a year ago, and apparently recovered. A month ago suffered another and sank rapidly. he is survived by his wife Rebecca nee Pritchartt Henderson three daughters, Mrs. (Edith) C.K. Voorhees, and Mrs. (Lucille) Herbert Rose, living here: Mrs(Eva May) W.W. Baxter, Cincinnati: two sons, William Bryan Henderson, Chicago: and John Cassell Henderson, Indianapolis.
