Delbert received his education in a rural school in Fremont Township, Moody County, SD. He began farming with his father and then was married to Evelyn on July 14, 1949, at Colman, South Dakota and in 1953 they moved to a farm southwest of Flandreau. Del became a resident at Riverview Manor Nursing Home. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau.
Del is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Loretta Kay (Joseph Lee) Angell, Holden, MO; Four granchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers: Donald, Greenville, SC; Henry (Hank), Live Oak, FL; and a sister, Maryan Casjens, Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Delbert; his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
